FIRST FOOTBALL GAME OF SEASONThe first game of the football season will be placed next Saturday afternoon between the Bakersfield and Tulare high school teams. The regular Central California league series will not start until a few weeks later, but Coach Birtch has arranged for the comtng game as a practice contest and the result will not affect the standing of the several teams.The athletic enthusiasts have been in continual practice since the opening of school. Mr. Birtch is again acting as coach) for the team and is selecting his players with care for the league series. The outcome of Saturday’s game is being watched with much interest as being a possible indication of the relative strength of the teams and the future of several players may depend upon how theydo their work on that occasion.
