Jeffries will not accept any theatrical engagements between now and the time he fights Jack Johnson, but will retire to the mountains of California and de/ote the entire period to active and systematic training for the championship battle, according to Sam Berger, his manager. He can have $1,000 in cash from me the mom nt he steps into the ring. I will fight him six. ten, twenty-five forty-five or a hundred rounds for $5,000 a side—winner take the entire purse of 75 per cent I will accept any reasonable offer and will win.”
