Graves also won the two-mile Reische said a lot of coaches and athletes complimented the performance of Clennon. who onlv had 40 minutes between his events.“It was a very tough double. the coach said “It is tougher than running the mile and two-mile because of the distance inbetween We are super proud ofhim.Clennon, who clipped 10 seconds off of last year's state mile time (4:21.42), would rather have a better fourth place finish time in Class AA than a worse first-place finish time in Class A, Reische saidThe Minooka standout was put in the 880 this year because of speed improvement “We noticed he picked up leg speed this year the Minooka coach said. “We wanted to move our runners around into to as many different events as possible And we saw he had one of the top times in the state in the 880.“He’s a gutsy kid. Reische continued “He’s not a normal distance runner I don’t think 'here was a double-runner inthe 880 and two-mile that placed as high “The other two Minooka representatives. George Goldasich (discus) and Mark Dean (high jump), did not make it into the finals. Goldasich missed the discus finals by only three-quarters of an inch with his toss of 147’ 1114- And Dean, with a high jump of 6’3 on Friday, failed to make the qualifying 6’6“.This season. Minooka had a 13-1 record (its only loss was to Herscher'. and it won the Joliet East Relays and the Lisle Invitational.
