COLUMBUS CARDS FORGE 8-GAME STREAK IN SALLYBy VERNON BUTLERAssociated Press Sports WriterThe onrushing Columbus Cardinals have forged an eight - gamewinning streak with a big assist from strong-armed Dennis Reeder and are breathing down the necksof the Sally League leaders.Reeder hurled a dazzling two-hitter last night for his fou/th victory in seven days as the Cards pounded Macon 11-1. The only twohits off the Red Bird ace came in the second inning when the Peaches tabbed their lone run. Everette Joyner led a 17-hit attack on Tom McCall and Nate Yablon by driving in four runs with a homer, double and two singles.Because Columbia was rained out at Savannah, • the Montgomery Grays were able to pick up a full game on the leaders. The Graysscored a double victory oyer Augusta and ran the Tiger losing streak to 13 games. Scores were 6-0 and 6-2. Jacksonville dumped the third-place Charleston Rebels, 6-1.Jacksonville's Moose Williams slammed a homer with two on to spark a third-inning surge whichsaw the Tars score all their runs. Clyde Stevens, recently returned 1 by the Nashville Vols, yielded onlyseven hits and struck out eight in hanging up the victory.Montgomery discouraged Augusta with a triple play in the first inning of the opener and waltzed dn to the shutout behind Lefty Lou Lombardo's six-hitter. Lombardo, a new member of the Grays staff, started the triple play when he made a diving grab of an attempted sacrifice bunt and then caught runners off first and second.Norman Brown and Angel Fleitas shared honors in the Grays secondvictory. Pitcher Brown scattered eight hits and Shortstop Fleitas,normally a light hitter, rapped three hits in four tries — one a homer.
