Charity Fishing Tournament aims tohelp organizations that help ourcommunities.The two-day tourney begins at 6 a.m. Saturday anil ends atVI p.m. June 4. A captain's meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Bridge Bait in Surfsideto handle late registrants and togo over the contest rules.Farly weigh-in will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, with final weigh-in at 1 p.m. June 4. I he entry fee is $40 per fisherman, with $20 going to the fishermen's pot. Last year, the tournament attracted 102 fishermen. The year before, its inaugural year, 96 people participated.We changed the format this year because we added more money for the fishermen, organizer Mike Swansey said. We've-mpadded fishpots in each one of the three categories where trophies are awarded. I his year, weare targeting about 200 fisher men, and if we do get that many, there will be about $4,(KM) worth of cash prizes, that should Ix* attractive to them.Cash prizes along with plaques will be awarded in trout, redfish and flounder categories. First-place finishers in each category will get SO percent payback, second place will get 40 percent and third place 20 percent.All Texas waters are open for the fishing tournament and all ty|x*s of bait — artificial and live — will be allowed.This kind of opens it up to a more raw base of fishermen, and that is what we want to get,Swansey said.In 2005, the Associated Builders and Contractors public relations committee presented donations to Actions Inc., the Brazosport Cares Food Pantry,Bovs and Girls Club of Brazoria•Tip-County, the t hildren's AdvocacyJpf -v. .
