Mike Taylor swung a big bat against Palmer base hit and two RBIs in the bi-district gamePalmer 7 To 3The Grandview Zebras played in their first Bi-District baseball game last Thursday. Coach Jackson was pleased with the Zebras’ season but he had hoped for a district championship. Due to the Zebras loss to Godley by only one ran, they met Palmer in Bi-District.The Palmer Bulldogs had a season record of 25-2-1 and a number four ranking in Class AA.They also have a lot of baseball tradition that is being built in ■ Grandview.Grandview and Palmer played in Waxahachie this past Thursday night at Paul Richardson Field. Coach Jackson said, the team was loose and ready to play. They were and they played hard but they came up short because of the hitting of Palmer.The Zebras ended the season with 14 wins and 9 losses and district runner-up in 13-AA. Four seniors ended their high school career last Thursday. They are Byron Buckley, Jeremy Carroll, Mike Taylor and Brad Quisenberry. Coach Jackson will miss all four players but has a lot of young players that should be able to step in and play.Grandview scored one in the first to take the lead but then Palmer scored four in the bottom to take the lead and keep it. The Bulldogs then scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Grandview scored twice in the sixth but fell short by four to Palmer giving them a 7 to 3 victory.Palmer's first baseman Josh Bardwell was credited for four RBIs, three coming on a three run homer in the first inning. Coach Jackson said, He is one of the best hitters in Class AA in the state. Jason Marshall pitched the distance for Palmer. Jeremy Carroll pitched four complete innings and three batted in the fifth. Coach Jackson said, Jeremy did a good job against Palmer. He would have struck outa lot of batters against any other team. Jeremy allowed seven runs (six earned), six hits, struck out three, walked three and hit two batters.Mike Taylor pitched for 1-1/3 innings and Ky Martin finished the game in the last innings.Catcher Timothy Carroll did a good job behind the plate throwing out three base runners (two in one inning).Mike Taylor was credited with two RBIs for the Zebras. Blake Glenn got the other RBI.Coach Jackson said, I’m looking forward to the future.
