Karate EventSet In JuneIn RichmondRICHMOND—The world’s largest Karate tournament will be held at the Richmond Arena June Ifi and June 19, it was announced here by Daniel Pai and Charles Armstrong, directors of the Southeastern Karate Federation, and co-owners of the Richmond Judo-Karale Club. The tournamenl will feature competition among the best Karate experts from China, Japan, Korea and all over the United States. In addition, there will be demonstrations of Karate and self-defense techniques, and musical entertainment by the Us Band.Among the many celebraties attending the Worldwide Karate Tournament will be Ed Parker of Hollywood, California, holder of the Seventh Degree Black Belt in Kem Po” Karate. Parker is well-known for teaching the art of Karate to many movie and television stars. In addition, invitations to attend have been extended in Richmond Mayor Morrill Crowe and various other political and civic leaders.Tournament Director Armstrong reported eliminations in Go Ju Ryu Karate for all divisions will be conducted June 18, and finals for all divisions and a demonstration show will be held June 1. A special women's division will also compete for trophies. Activities begin at 9 a. m. both days.Armstrong said tickets, good for both days’ events, are currently on sale at the Richmond Judo-Karate Club, 1308 West Broad Street in Richmond.
