That statement doesn’t mean much to a lot «f people but they will take notice when they learn that the House of David baseball team will meet the Dan-cfger Itoadrunners Friday afternoon at Roadnumer park. The same two teams will play again Saturday afternoon.Both games will be called at 3 o'clock and admission will be 35 cents for bleachers and 55 cents for grandstand scats. The team coining to Pampa Is the original Israelite House or David team as rc-organized by Mary Purnell at Benton Harbor, Mich. Some of the players have been with the team more than 10 years.The names of Hanson. Hutson, Tucker, Wycock, Anderson, and Tatly are known from coast to coast 1 and from Canada to Mexico. They I have been classed among the great-I est baseball players of nil time. Major league team contracts have been offered those great players year after year but they have refused to turn professional and have stuck to their religion.Practically the same team play-' ed in. Hemming will do the catching.The pitching staff will be headed by that veteran Doc Talley who is also a great outfielder and hitter. Talley is recognized as the Babe Ruth of unorganized baseball. Bergen,- another veteran, and Harper and Freshour round out the pitching corps.The House of David team, last year played 147 games, winning all but 37 of their encounters, The team covered 34,000 miles and iamchs their string of victories were such teams as San Francisco, Los Angeles, 'both Pacific Coast league teams, Kansas City Monarchs, (colored champions of the world, and many other great teams.Pampa’s Boadrunners arc fast rounding into shape and should be in mid-season form by the end of tlic week. Warm weather is needed to limber up a few joints. Manager Aaron Ward will have his full corps of pitchers ready to throw against the bearded men. The Roadnmncrs will play this afternoon and then rest until the game Friday afternoon.One of the largest crowds in baseball history is expected to see the two games. The game Friday will be the last day of the Pre-Centennial celebration.
