England, Carter Repeaters On JUCO AU-Star SquadsSophomores Danny England and Joe Carter, outstanding Allegany Community College baseball stars for the past two years, have been elected fo the Maryland JUCO Conference coaches all-star first team.For the hard-throwing England, his selection to the first team-.was the second berth he's won in his two years on the mound against the conference's American Division competition. Carter, leadoff batter in the Trojan lineup this year,innings this year and walked only 23 batters.In addition to his mound feats, the Bedford High product led the Trojans in batting for thea n ■ ~was picked for one of the three .secpnd straight year with a .416 outfield positions.Mark Makee, No. 2 starter behind England, was awarded the secondteam pitching post on the American Division “super 18’’.England, who set a school record of 99 strikeouts last season, recorded, a league high 76 this year, while compiling a 2.00 earned run average in a 4-3 mound season. Be hurled 58-one-thirdbatting average,. Carter, who also filled in as a spot starter and reliever for coach Steve Bazarnic’s nine, rapped 24 hits in 65 trips at the plate in batting ,369 in his Jineup leadoff spot. Also a cc-captain on last season's Trojan basketball team, Carter wound up 6-0 on the mound in his two seasons at ACC in relief roles.The Bishop Walsh product was a member of both ACC athletic teams to reach the Region XX playoffs, being a member ofI both the baseball and basketball teams which made their first region trips ever.Malec, second in the league to England in strikeouts, recorded 67 “Ks” while finishing his two-year mound duties with the Trojans at 8-4 lt;4-2 each year). Also a BW graduate, Malec posted a 3.24 ERA with 50 innings pitched in eight appearances.Carter was named to the second team last season.Hagerstown led the way with three first team berths {cathcher Gary Fahrney, shortstop Tom Grove and outfielder John Webb), while other members were first baseman Hay AUebach and second baseman Charles Haiber, both ,of division champion Prince Georges, and third baseman Wayne Wilkerson and outfield JDave Druskin, both of Rockville.
