The Southeast Seven conference lt;had one athlete win a first place ( in the class AA state track meet at Ames Saturday, John Patik of Os-kaloosa tossed the shot 55-414.Washington's mile relay team (Ward Anderson, Daryl Braun, Scott Swartzendruber, Don Adams) was second to Indianola in 3:25.1. Braun tied with Dean Sandell of Ottumwa for fifth in the 440 yard dash in :51.1 and Ed Brown was sixth in the discus with a heave of 156-6. Greg Goodell set a new school record of :20.l in tlhe 180 yard high hurdles but didn't qualify for the finals.
