Monday they played a tight ball game with El Rancho before pulling it out 4-1. Mike FoUmer was 3-3, Joe Meeker was 2 for 3, Chip Woodard was 2 for 4, and Jim Lucas contributed a key hit. It was a defensive win as they allowed El Rancho only lhree hits with Mark Ritter, Ron Glassco and Chris Clark the only Market boys that got on safely. Jim Lucas and Dave Cole were stingy with base runners. Symes jumped to a 24) lead in the bottom of the first only to have Kay Brunner score four big runs with two out—Pete Hughes doubled and stole home for the firsr run, Dave Cavleri walked, Mike Grady singled into center and John Reilly doubled to score both runners, then came home on a passed ball. Leading 5-2 going into the bottom of the 5th Symes scored two big runs—the big hit being Jim Lucas’ triple. The big run in the 6lh inning was a sacrifice fly hall hit by Lester Leonard to tie the (game. Chip Woodard drove in the winning run. Jim Lucas took a sure hit away from Mike Tor-caso. Dave Cole made a sensational catch of a line drive at first to take a hit from John Holmes. Rob Kay made a fine catch and a great throw to nip Mary Mylius at home plate. Mike Grady made a running catch of Jim Lucas sinking fly ball in bottom of first. Excellent fielding plays on both teams.blows were back to back doubles by Ulmer and Brown that put the game out of reach. Richie Jackson pitched a strong three innings with Dave Weckerly finishing up. Dave tried his best to aid his own cause with 3 for 3 including two doubles. Craig Penne and Richie Jackson each contributed singless in a losing cause.Ei Rancho came in a strong-third by bunching their hits to make a big 5 run inning and beating Parker Boiler 7-1. Ron Glassco went 2 for 3, drove in 3 runs and hit a booming home run. Mark Ritter was the other hitting star for El Rancho, going 2 for 2, driving in 3 runs and hitting a solid double. The last run was driver, in by Mike In-in, also 2 for 2 and hitting a line drive double. Mark Cozza also hit safely as well as pitching his team to victory. Parker Boiler out bit El Rancho and just couldn’t buncli their hits and left men strunded on the bases. Kevin Kaiser had a big double for the Boilermcn with Erik Osen-haugh and Ed Sharkey both going 2 for 4 to lead their team. Jim Noren. Randy Del Rey, John Schoot all bit safely for Parker.
