V'UVII hVIBVIIIIVllNamed At GCHSFive lettermen have been named at Glenwood Community High School by Golf Coach Tom Davis.TJwo senio.rs and three sophomores make tip the list. They arc: Seniors—Ernie (Skip) Maier and Ted Mintle; sophomores—Clint Davis, Dennis Kemp and Jeff Garrett.This is only the second year of competitive golf at GCHS and the team showed considerable improvement over last year. Two dual meets were won this season, the team placed ahead of three other schools at the sectional meet and tied Corning twice in area meets.Coach Davis reports that the team score at the conference meet was 34 strokes better than last year, but the other teams are improving also so GCHS actually gained 24 strokes.Golf is relatively new to the Glenwood area and as players now are able to start at a younger age they should continue to improve in future years, says Davis.
