Juckes NamedTo CAHA PostSYDNEY, N.S. (CP) — Gordon Juckes, 45 - year - old Melville, Sask., weekly newspaper publisher, Tuesday was named secretary - manager of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. He became the first western representative to hold the post.He succeeds the late George Dudley of Midland, Ont., who died May 8. Dudley had held the job, considered the top position in Canadian amateur hockey, since 1945.Juckes, president of the national hockey body, was chosen in a three - candidate race. Earlier, two other candidates dropped out of the running at the CAHA's annual meeting here.Defeated were Bill Hanley ofToronto, an official of the Ontario Hockey Association, and Robert Alexander, a Winnipeg minor hockey official.Juckes, who served with the Canadian army for six years during the Second World War, will also assume the duties of the registrar-txeasurer of the CAHA. The registrar - treasurer's position has been held by W. A. Hewitt of Toronto for the last 39 years. Mr. Hewitt is expected to retire next year.The secretary- manager's position, with its new duties, will probably pay |6,500-a-year plus expenses, but the CAHA's executive expressed desire that the new officer work closer with the CAHA president.It
