6th takes LL openerJoseph’s Little League opened its season Saturday at Dean Park with 6th Ward team defeating 3rd Ward, 5-0.In ceremonies before the game, league president Bob Rainey presented an award to Joseph Travers, the first president of the league.A parade starting from Joseph’s Market, through the city to the ball park also precceded the game.Art Mittler served as master of ceremonies at the pre-game festivities in which sponsor Joseph Joseph and the league’s managers and coaches took part.Bill Griffin hit a home run in the game for 6th Ward and won four tickets to a Pirates game of his choice from Joseph’s Markets.
