Dudley, a Midiland, Ont., lawyer, who held the i post since 1945, died May S of a j heart attack.BROADER POWERSGordon Juckes, Mevilie, Sask., weekly newspaper publisher and national president of the CAHA, is among the major candidates for the job. Others are past president Bob Lebel of Chambley, Que.; Jack Christie and Bob Hanley, both of Toronto, and R. W. Alexander of Winnipeg.The CAHA’s executive committee proposed Monday that the secretary - treasurer’s job also include the present post of regis-trar-treasurer, now held by W.A. Hewitt of Toronto. Hewitt, who has held the registrar - treasurer post since 1939, has announced intentions of retiring.Juckes* chief opposition Is expected to come from central Canadian delegates, who feel that the post should be filled by a man from either Ontario or Quebec. Western officials,. hoping to get support from the Maritime branch, contend that it’s time a westerner held the post.Jim*Brown of Camrose, Alta.,vice • president of the Alberta branch, said the secretary-man-ager's salary should be raised if he were to take over registrar-treasurer’s duties.
