ATTELL BESTS MURPHYAbe’s Left Jab Too Much forBrooklyn Tommy.Abe Attell, the featherweight champion, was at his best Friday night in the ten-round bout he fought with Tommy Murphy, of Brooklyn. The first six rounds were Atteil's. He was faster, cleaner aad cooler. In particular his left jab to the face was puzzling and damaging. In the seventh and eighth rounds Murphy worked to close range and did some wicked infighting. They were his only rounds. With a burst of speed Attell let loose all he knew in the ninth and made Murphy look almost like an amateur. In the tenth the champion was content to hold a safe lead. There has been keen rivalry between the fighters, who have met before. In their last encounter Murphy made a better showing.Jack Gorman and Charley Lawrence fought ten rounds to a draw last Friday night at the Lehigh athletic club.
