Position no longer part-time jobCAHA votes to have full-time presidentLONDON, Ont. (CP)-The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association will soca have its first full-time president.The CAHA decided unanimously at its annual meeting Tuesday that the position of president is no longer a part-time position to be handled oa a voluntary basis.The restructuring of the CAHA now leaves the president responsible to the board of directors with a chairman in charge. The duties of the executive director remain unchanged.Gord Renwick of Cambridge, Ont., serving his final term as president, said a country-wide search for the new president would begin immediately. Renwick said neither he nor vice-president Frank McKinnon would apply for-the position. McKinnon would have been Renwick's successor under the old format.Renwick. 44, wbb has beer, on the CAHA executive for 10 years, received the CAHAmeritorious award at a dinner Tuesday night.The CAHA executive of the year award also went to an Ontario hockey man. Ont. -(CP) -Quebec will cease to be an active member of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association if it is not allowed veto power, Arthur Lessard,' executive director of the Quebec Ice Hockey Federation (QI1F) told delegates attending the CAHA's annual meeting.“We are not satisfied wilh the CAHA’ he said and added that his organisation insists it approves decisions that affectthem before they are ratified by the CAHA.Lessard, reading from a seven-page statement, said the CAHA was prejudiced wilh regard to the Quebec federation and had ignored its recommendations.
