Quebec threatens to leave CAHALONDON, Ont. (CP) -Quebec will cease to be an active member of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association il it is not allowed veto power, Arthur Lessard/ executive director of the Quebec Ice Hockey Federation (QI1F) told delegates attending theCAHA's annual meeting.*“We are not satisfied with the CAHA,'' he said and added that his organisation insists it approves decisions that affectthem before they are ratified by the CAHA.Lessard, reading from a seven-page statement, said the CAHA was prejudiced with regard to the Quebec federation and had ignored its recommendations. In its 21st of complaints, the QliF said the CAHA was under the influence of the Ontario Hockey Association and that French documents were Di-ten impossible to obtain from the association.The Q1IF also said nothing was being done to deal with the fact that Canada has lost ground at the international level.“We have the imprtssion that amateur hockey'is • proceeding as the weather goes — without real planning,” he said.“We cannot accept the lack of leadership of the national organization, which obviously represents an obstacle to thePREMIUMpolicies and realizations of the QIIF“Lessard said fcis federation will re-evaluate the situation at the ead of the 179-S0 season and reconsider its participation in the CAHA.Gordon Ren wick, president of the CAHA, said he was surprised when Lessard made the presentation in the plenary session.Renwiek said that, while the Quebec group criticized the CAHA’s technical development program, the QIIF has not nominated anyone recently for an executive position, has not shared any of its technical development material with the CAHA technical office ncr sent its technical director to ibisweek’s meetings.
