Oneonta muscle stops RedskinsThe Oneonta High . School baseball Learn displayed some of their muscle Saturday in beating Cooperstown Higli in Doubleday Field, 4-2,John Minarcin, a sophomore who works both on the mound and in centerfield, blasted a 346 foot home run in the third inning to give Onednta a 1-0 lead that was not to stand up. 'The Redskins took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a steal of home and a key single by Kevin Beals, Jim Brophy hit a duble off the. leftficld wall and then stole third. Kevin Beals walked stole second. Brophy and Beals then pulled a double steal with Brophy scoring. Beals came home on Coulman’s safety, 1Oneonta tied the game in the seventh to send it into one extra frame. Pete Munson singled, went to second on a wild pitch, was balked to Lhird, and scored on Minarein's single.The YeUowjaekets’ two winning runs were as a result of back-to-back dnuhles by Bill Hughes and Mark Lossi, Both had home run written on them but missed by inches.Hughes, after fanning three straight times, bounced his shot off the right field cement, and he trotted home on Lossi's shot off the leftfield fence and he went to third on a hobbled ball.•Lossi scored on a sacrifice fly to center by pitcher John Ber-tuzzi. He fanned 10 in his eight innings of work on the mound ■ (lor Oneonta, walking three.Tuesday the Jackets are scheduled to go to Little .Falls but coach Tom Baker is trying to get a doublsheader with them here in Oneonta. First game was rained out, Wednesday Walton is in town and Thursday Oneonta lays all the marbles on the at Norwich.
