Rakow Lifts Chiefs; Leafs Stop Bisons, Move Up On AtlantaEd Rakow might be just what the slumping Syracuse Chiefs need.The 28-year-oid righthander rejoined the Chiefs earlier this week after the parent Detroit Tigers demoted him. He was a welcome addition to Manager Frank Carswell’s staff, which had lost seven of their last nine decisions.Rakow’s first appearance since being sent back to Syracuse Friday night was a four-hit, 2-1 triumph over Rochester which pulled them to within one game of fifth-place Toledo.In other games, Mike Cuellar, Tom Hilgendorf and Don Dennis of Jacksonville combined their efforts to defeat Toledo, 6-5.
