Top Stock Car Jockeys To Be At FairgroundsWestern ant! Central New York’s lap Mock car jockeys will be back at Ontario County Fairgrounds this Sunday (May 24) for another crack at p.old and glory.Highlight of the card will be a 20-lap feature event in (he Overhead Sportsman Division, the big league of slock car racing which made its debut here last Sunday.Premoter 4'Bob” Schmidt paid tribute to the large crowd of 2,500 last week, saying The Crowd was very receptive to the Overhead Sportsman cars and very patient, with a new group of officials working the event.”Included in the drivers field will he Elmer Musclow, Rochester; who last week racked up a victory in the 20-lap co-feature, Fran Jis-chke, and Tubby Page both of Rochester; Billy Rafter and Roy Campbell, both of Buffalo; Pete Corey, Cohoes, a co-feature winner iast week; Ken Shoemaker, Amsterdam; Irish’* Jack Murphy, Liverpool; Chuck Mahoney, Rome; Billy Wimble, Lisbon. There is a good possibility of many other “Star” jockeys coming in from eastern Slate.All points scored at this improved half-mile oval officially will be recognized by the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing {NASCAR) under which sanction raves are staged here,Srfhrnidt announced that this week's card will start at 2:30 p.m. a half hour earlier than the previous three cards.Ample free parking facilities at Canandaigua permil spectators to watch races from their cars.
