Rifle Fans Revive Interest In the Helena Rifle ClubNew life was instilled into the Helena Itifle club, whieh has been inactive for two years, at a meeting last night in the offices of Dr. John K. Treacy. 'The meeting was attended by a large number of rifle Ians, who made arrangements to hold target mutches, with a view of becoming contenders for the National Kith* association trophies.1 r. Treacy was elected presidentof the club, and Will Strong waschosen secretary. Plans will helaunched immediately with a viewof beginning practice, and it wasagreed to hold the first shoot on the rifle range at Ft. Harrison at 10 o’clock Sunday morning. Anyone interested in target practice is invited to take part in the matches. Maj. J. J. Mdiuinness was elected range officer.There will be another meeting of the club Thursday night, when an invitation extended by the Missoula rifleteam to stage a match at the* .Missoulastampede celebration, July 2, J and 4.will be considered.The Helena club will be affiliatedwith the national association, and will compete for the four medals at distances of 200, 300 and 500 yards, and for the final challenge medal. The national matches for which the Helena club is eligible, will he held indoors, and will begin next fall. The Helena club probably will shoot in the armory.It is the plan to hold target practice on tin* Ft. Harrison range every Sunday morning. The members of the club will use the government Springfield rifles. Ft. Harrison is splendidly equipp'd for practice, the club being pe rmitted to use the equipment, including the government targets.In the past, Helena has produced some splendid rifle shots, making some enviable scores, hut of late years little interest has been taken in target practice. However, the war in Kurope has inspired interest in former marksmen, with the result that the dub was revived last night
