GIVENSmy ScafTisthethird recipientof N-J Sports Editorthe award given annually to an athlete in the newspaper’s six-BOVINA, Texas — ScottScaff was a force for Bovina High School during his four-ear career, but he saved thest for 1988-The all-everything Mustang was a clear choice as the recipient of the Clovis News-Journal Male Athlete of theYear Award.Scaff dominated West Texasbasketball, was an all district selection in football, shot a 79 for district medalist golf honors and won in the only two track meets he could enter because ofscheduling conflicts.In addition, he is valedictorian for BHS in 1989 with an academic standing of 98 on acounty coverage area, pients must participate in at least two sports and have aminimal 3.0 grade pointaverage.Appropriately, Scaff is the first athlete ever chosen from Texas since the award was begun in 1986.
