Bulldogs Win District CrownThe Bulldogs of Burnet won the district baseball championship at Copperas Cove last Friday night when they edged The Cove 3-2. Vernon and Willie Richardson got two hits each as they j paced the team to the win Willie wfas also the winning pitcher giving up one hit while striking out 16'In games prior to the champ ionship contest, played the preceding several days, the Bulldogs /defeated Florence 9 3 at Flor ence. Vernon Richardson, Terry Vocum and Bud Fans each had two hits and the team racked out 11 hits Bud Paris and Vernon Richardson combined to pitch a 5-hitter. Bud struck out 6 and Vernon 3.Burnet defeated Marble Falls in their first conference game 16 2 at Marble Falls, Willie Richard son had 3 hits and Vernon Richardson, Hap Zimmerman and David Pctrick had 2 each Vernon was the winning pitcher, striking out 13 batters.in their second district game the Bulldogs beat Copperas Cove 7-f) in a rain soaked game, Jack Young was the leading hitter for the Bulldogs with 2, The Bulldogs accounted for their runs by some nifty base running. Bud Paris and Willie Richardson combined to nitch a 3-hitter Bid struck out 3 and Willie 7.In their 3rd district win. th Bulldogs beat Marble Falls 10-2 (Miles Sawyer had 3 hits and Voi I non Richardson and David Pelrick had 2 each Vernon andWillie Richardson and Bud Farecombined to pitch a 4-hitter.The Bi District opponent had not been decided as of Wednesday afternoon
