Nederland Athletes Given Letter AwardsLetter sweaters were presented 18 Nederland High School juniors for proficiency in sports in an assembly last week.The Nederland band also received an award from the University Interscholastic League for placing in first division in three competitions sponsored by the league. B. F. Bland, high school principal, made the presentation.The District 27-A trophy was also presented to the junior high school football team by Bland.The 18 athletes receiving the sweaters were Jerry Locke, Jerry Crane, Buddy Daw, Jimmy French, Jimmy Cahal, Earl Smith, James Bolton, Floyd Chamber-lain, Arthur Sturrock, Markley Johnson and Ollie Ray Fuller, football; Davis Bourque, basketball; Joe Lee Richards, Eugene Smith, Dillord Keith, football managers; Irene Ceccas, Jane Burk and Geneva Broussard, yell leaders.
