Scores Wednesday ranged from Joe Patrick’s medalist count ! of S7 to the 168 turned in by MaxGordon. Grass in the rough was* .1rather high when the niblick | wielders started their tourney but when they had finished the management decided it would not be ; necessary to send grass cutters around as the players had perfected the job to perfection and satisfaction. It is also reported that the river, which flows through the course and which must hecrossed twice during the first nine holes, has risen several feet because of a deluge of golf balls which nestled in the creek yesterday.Event a Success.The first tourney of the present season was a decided success and much of the credit must be given to the enterprising committeewhich was headed by Joe Redler as chairman and which included Harry Le Poidevin. Ted Gottlieb, Bob Foster and Lloyd Amster. The committee solicited and distributed one of the most attractive prize lists ever presented at an association tourney with theawards all being distributed in four flights. A fifth flight was composed of the 27 guests who competed in the event while the 30 members who played shared in the distribution of the otherawards.As mentioned above, Joe Patrick romped off with medalist honors with his score of 87 and he was rewarded with the directors’ trophy, which must be won three times to become a member’s permanent possession. Ray Eggert was runner-up with his 18-hole count of 89. A. F. Erickson copped high honors in the second flight; Earl Pokorny, president of the association, was winner in the third flight; and Art Rowley was high in the fourth flight. Evind Moxness won the guest flight prize.President Pokorny presided at a short business session during which he announced that Lloyd Amster was appointed chairman ofthe commitee to be in charge of the June tournament. Selection ofa date and place for the June event will be left to the committee.A feature of the day's festivities was a wrestling exhibition by Duke Ruppenthal, Wisconsin welterweight champion of Milwaukee, and Marvin Strahola, also of Milwaukee and one of Wisconsin’seadlng light heavyweights. These wo star grappling performerssave a fine demonstration of the various holds used in wrestlingtnd also other feats of strength.b'ollowing the exhibition they enraged in a five-minute match with Lcs Semmes, local wrestling pro-tnoter, acting as referee. Semmes j a as rudely treated by tho tw o \;rapplers and the match was one f tho most extraordinary tilts ever taged in those parts. When the wo grapplers finished with Promoter Semmes it was necessary to ocate a barrel for I.es to make hisvav back to the club house.!!
