Great Faith in HisAbility.Jeffries Thinks Big Black Han Will Win Out With Ease.Philadelphia, May I».—Jack John* son and Jack O'Brien, who are matched to fight six rounds at the National Athletic club here today, are ready and are only waiting for the gong. Neither holds the - other cheaply and both are In fine physical condition and fit to go a longer route than the six rounds scheduled.Johnson says he will end the fight before the sixth round while O'Brien Is confident he will outpoint the big negro nod hopes to be able to give him a beating.While a great number of spprta look for the world's champion to get the better of the bout, there are many who express the belief that Johnson will have to fight hard to defeat the white man. The colored man has the advantage of weight, height and reach over the Philadelphian, but he has not been in the ring since he defeated Burns last December and there are those who beUeve that he is not now fast enough to avoid the iaba of O’Brien. Johnsons strong point is in-fighting and If O’Brien makes a long range fight of it, his | friends believe that Johnson will not be able to indict much punishment.With the exception of a few hundred $2 seats which will bo put on sale early this evening, the house has been sojd up and the largest crowd that ever saw a six round fight in this city will be on hand- The manage* meat says that the receipts—$ 15,-000—is a world's record for a six round bout. -There will he no decision rendered as the Pennsylvania law forbids prize fights but .permits boxing bouts where no decision is given.Johnson’s present visit to Philadelphia is quite different from that of two years ago. With one exception none ol the local fight clubs carea to put him on their programme on the ground that he was not a drawing card. The dub which will give him $5,000 tonight for eighteen minutes actual work, repeatedly turned him down.
