(GAZETTE photo by Faye Kraus.)WESTFIELD TWP.Cloverleaf’agirls softball team made it five in a row yesterday, edging visiting Wadsworth 7-6.Wednesday, the Colts turned back Copley in a 14-13 slugfest.Sue Steppenbacker was the power for Cloverleaf in both games, bringing home the winning run against Wadsworth and ripping a homer and a triple against Copley.With Cloverleaf down 6-5 going into the final inning against Wadsworth, winning pitcher Loretta Popovic scored to knot things at 6-6.Steppenbacker’s single put it away for Cloverleaf.Mary Holcomb, who walked six Cloverleaf batters, was credited with the mound defeat for the Grizzlies.Popovic was the winning hurler against Copley Wednesday and contributed a triple and double to the Colt batting attack. Cloverleaf’s big break came in the fourth inning when it was trailing 10-6.With the help of a streak of errors byCopley’s firstbasewoman, Cloverleaf pushed in seven runs, taking the lead forgood.Cloverleaf hosts DoylestownTuesday.
