Hie four teams have been divided equally from 54 boys, ages 15, 16, and 17 with ability and experience taken into consideration .* r the division to establish an active and well balanced competition. Sponsors for the teams are: State Bank and Trust Co.; Aiken First FederalSaving and Loan Association;Security Federal Savings andLoan Association; and Farmersand Merchants Bank. A 16 game schedule is to be played by each of the teams with a single game scheduled each evening Monday thru Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on the Eustls Park Field .Balance of the league strength is evident at the end of the first week of play. All four teams haveidentical records of one win and one loss. Outstanding pitching performances were turned inby Jeff Tope, who pitched a one I hit ball game for Security Fed-eral’s opening game win over Aiken Federals’ Greg Price 4 to 1, and Chick Warner, who back-i ed up by fine fielding from his State Bank teammates pitcheda one hitter with no free passes to defeat Farmers and Merchants Allen George 3 to 0. In other games Farmers and Merchants’ Steve T ere defeated State Bank’s Bob Jones 1 to 0 and Aiken Federals’ Rodger Ridenour defeated Security Federals’ Ronnie Stone 8 to 7.State Banks’ Chick Warner led the hitting at the end of the weekwith a triple, two doubles and two sin,Tlrs in seven offieial bats for a 714 average. Both John Price and Larry Abney for Aiken Federal went 3 for 4 in their second game with Security Federal; however, averages werer.tt available due to an incomplete box score on the first gamebetween these two teams.State Bank plays * :kcn Federal on Monday and Wednesday nights and Farmers and Merchants Bank plays Security Federal on Tuesday and Thursday nights to make up the schedule for the week of May 16th.
