22, Oshkosh Advance-Titan, May 14, 1986Runners nationals boundBY STACY BOUPLON A-T reporterThe track and field athletes from UW-Oshkosh did and are continuing to qualify for nationals at the North Central University,Meets held May 9 and 16 at the university are the final determinant of who will go to nationals in the outdoor classification.“It was a real high quality meet,” assistant coach John Zupanc said. “There were no ream scores kept and not many of our athletes placed in the top three.”Max Ham qualified for nationals, along with placing first at the meet in his specialty, the 800 meter run. He completed his first place effort in 1:50.33.Tammy Milz, freshman from Monroe, also qualified for the NCAA Division III National Track Meet with her time of 2:15.72 in the 800 meter run this past weekend,“Our mile relay ran a best time ever,” Zupanc said. “They missed national qualification by less than a second.”A new school record was set in the triple jump at the NorthCentral meet.Michelle Dziak, who did well at the Indoor National meet in the event, qualified this past weekend for the Outdoor National Competition. She set the record with a leap of 36M1.75”.“I was really impressed with the performances of both Michelle and Tammy,” Coach Deb Vercauteren said.The men’s and women’s track teams will travel toNorth Central University again this weekend to try to qualify for the mile relay and other individuals for nationals.
