(Ray Johnson photos)Westmar\‘ , B • *MaguireThe home run bat of Steve Maguire led the Westmar Ragles to a 10-8 win over Dordt college in the first gartie of a doubleheader yesterday at Sioux Center.Fine pitching by Earl Stanley and Bill Mason brought a 3-2 win over Dordt in thk second game.In the first game Maguire hit three consecutive home runs, driving in seven KBt's to lead the Eagles.Dave Hutchinson also hit a solo home run in the 7th to give Westmar the winning run.In the top of the 3rd Jerry Lake was on first base and stole second. The catcher threw past the second baseman and Lake headed for third.The second baseman threw to third and his throw was wide and Lake came in to score the first run.ICC certificates9»for trophy deerEleven more lowans have been awarded trophy deer hunter certificates.They became eligible for entry into the Iowa big game registry by bagging whitetail deer with trophy racks. All racks taken in Iowa are eligible for entry.However, certificates will only be awarded to entries which meet minimum standards.In order to qualify for a certificate, a rack must be measured and scored by an official scorer for the Boone and Crockett or Pope and Young clubs.The scoring system used for Iowa records will be identical to that used by these clubs.With two out, Sanderson was safe on an error which brought up Maguire who hit the first pitch over the left field fence.Dordt picked up three unearned runs in the bottom of the 3rd and two more unearned runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-3 lead. .In the top of the 5th with one out, Stangefirst inning with a double, stole third and scored on an error as the batcher’s throw missed the third baseman.In the bottom of the 1st, De Ha'an of Dordt, who had hit the home run in the first game for Dordt, hit his second home run of the game to tie the score.He also pitched the 7th inning of the firstsingled and Sanderson was hit by a pitched ball which brought up Maguire again, who hit his secopd home run over the left field fence on the second pitch.In the bottom of the 6th, trailing 6-5 Dordt came back when Niewenhuis doubled and with two out Gray doubled to score Niewenhuis, which was followed by a home run by De Huan to give Dordt an 8-6 lead.The Eagles fought back quickly in the top of the 7th as Sanderson led off the inning with a double followed by Maguire’s 3rd home run, this time over the right field fence.Hutchinson, the next batter, hit the first pitch for a home run over the left field fence. Rhamy walked, went to second on a ground out and scored on a single by Bauder.Steve Robbins the starting pitcher for the Eagles went the first five.and two-thirds innings and had relief help from Steve Maguire who finished the game.In the second game Rhamy led off thegame and went all the way for Dordt in the second game.In the top of the 3rd, with two outs, Rhamy walked and Bauder singled to center field. The center fielder overran the ball and Rhamy came all the way in to score.Sanderson singled to score Bauder which ended the scoring for Westmar.In the bottom of the 3rd Dordt picked up a run without a hit as De Haan walked. Two more walks put him on third where he scored on a wild pitch which ended the scoring for Dordt.Earl Stanley started for the Eagles on the mound in the second game. He gave up two hits through the first three innings when he walked three batters and was relieved by Bill Mason. Mason held Dordt scoreless the last four and one-third innings and also gave up only four hits.The two wins gave the Eagles a 13-11 record so far this season. The Eagles will be home Saturday to play Sioux Falls college in a doubleheader which can givethe Eagles the. Tri-State conference championship if they win both glimes.
