An outfield error by Everett allowed Bedford two runs in the top of the first. Everett got a scratch run in the bottom of the second and then three more in the third on a pair of Bedford ovethrows.“At times it wasn't a well-played game, Foor commented. “There was a lot of loose play.During the middle innings the contest was dose to a pitcher's (hie). Everett Mark Clark shut the Bisons down from the second through the sixth. Bedford's Matt Logsdon, who came on in relief of starter Rob Doman, shut the Warriors down in the fourth, fifth and sixth.In the seventh, Scott Beegle got a one-out single up the middle and Mike Cottle followed with another. Logsdon helped his own cause with a double into the right-center gap, scoring Beegle.Barry Hinish came on in relief of Clark. Foor said Clark did a good job before getting tired.(finish's first pitch to Shannon Kline bounced off the front of the plate and sailed ova* the backstop, allowing Cottle to trot home as the tying run. With Logsdon on third, Kline hit into a fielder’s choice, Logsdon held momentarily, then raced home ahead of Bill Morgret’s throw for first to catcher Kevin Border,Bedford added two more runs,both unearned, to lead 7-4 going into the bottom of the inning, ttowute singled and Kelly Blevins waited. Both moved up on a wiki piteh, then scored oh an overthrow.The Warriors bounced back. Logsdon ran into control problems.After doe Norman reached on an error, Logsdon walked Rick Foor and tBfilsh to load the bases with none out. Bedford coach Gary Wauger-man went to the mound, but left Logdson in. Bis first pitch to Mark dark was a ball in the dift and Waugerman turned to Howsare.Clark stroked Howsare’s first pitch into right-center for a single and two runs. Everett was back in business.With runners on first and third, Clark got the go-ahead to steal second. He went and Beford threw to a cutoff man who fired back to Don Eliott at the plate. Hinish, trying to come home, was caught in a rundown.Foor felt that the rundown was the key to the game. Clark stole third, then scored on a two-out single by “Dfder. The contest was tied at 7-7.There was no scoring in the eighth as Bedford went down in order. Everett's first of two runners in the eighth, Todd Ritchey, was picked off at first, and Norman, who walked, was stranded.In the ninth Logsdon singled, Kline walked, Howsare singled in Logsdon for the go-head run. Blevins drew another walk and Grubb followed with a bases-loaded double down the left field line, scoring two more runs. Foor pulled Hinish for sophomore Randy Clark. An error on a ground ball by- Cottle scored Bedford’s final run.The Warriors could not come back again. Hinish got them started with a single and Mark dark reached on an error. After a strikeout, Border hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Hinish to score. DelaneyA pair at Bedford seniors will meet in the District 5 boys' tennis finals on Saturday. Page Delaney and Scott Wise emerged as finalists in the tournament in Saturday’s preliminary through semi-final round action at the Bedford Middle School courts.Delaney, who received a bye in the first round as Bedford’s number one entry, stopped Tussey junior John Stanton 641, €-1 in the quarterfinals and eliminated Northern Bedford senior Don Morris 3-6,6-0, 6-3 in the semifinals.Wise won all three of his matches in straight sets. He defeated Jim Paoiicelli, a Northern Bedford sophomore, 61, 6-0 in the prelims. He came back with a 61, 62 win over Everett junior Mike Tew in the quarterfinals. In the semis, Wise topped Tussey’s number oneolaver. senior Dave Brocht. 6-1. 6-4.».l
