AUTO RACESUnder .Auspices .of .the .ColumbusAutomobile Club.unbus Driving Park, Sunday, May 15 andThe Inauguration of Motor Contests iu the middle West will take place atColumbus, lt;)., on the dates of May 15th and 16th, at the Driving Park Track, when the greatest field of drivers that has ever been entered for a mile trackevent will participate.Under th 3 management of the Columbus Automobile Club, which has held some noted events in the past, the events promise to be a fit curtain raiser for the 1915 season. _✓. There will be seven events on the programme each day, which will alsoinclude a long distance Derby. On Sunday the 16th, the final event will be a 100 mile race for cars of 450 inches and less in piston displacement which is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Classification.class of cars, a free-for-all open race, best two out of three heats. Exhibition trials, in which Rickenbacher will drive the famous 300 h.p. Blitzen Benz, and free-for-all handicap, and a long distance Motor Derby, open to all cars of 450 inches and less in displacement the same classification as Indianapolis.The present record for the local track is a mile in 50 2-5 made by Barney Oldfield with the old Blitzen Benz, this is also the State as well as *the local track record. What Rickenbacher will do is a problem to be solved the 15th and 16th as he will make his first essay* to break into the higher realm of Motordom.IIl1IIiI]lt;In fact at least eight of the cars and drivers who will* be seen in action here, are drivers and cars that have competed in the Indianapolis Classic,and many of them will ship direct from the Speedway here, and will return to IndiapApobs after the rftfces are over.The following cars and drivers have already been entered for the events with additional entrants to be received before the entries finally close.The Maxwell racing team, was the first team to be entered. These cars will be the same Maxwells which have been driven with such success by Rickenbacher, Oldfield, and Carlson. Fresh from their various Pacific Coast victor-Every precaution will be taken„ to eliminate the dust and to otherwise make the track safe and free from obstacles which cause injury to spectators or drivers.The Maxwell team will secure special local quarters.The Automobile races will be run Saturday and Sunday, May 15th and 16th. This is the car which Bunnan practically made best showing at Indianapolis.Jack Marston at the wheel of theOlentangy Park, Columbus, mammoth amusement resort, is now open for its seventeenth summer season under themanagement of Messrs.
