PRO SOCCERTHE SLUMPING CALIFORNIA SURF fell to its fourth consecutive defeat Saturday night, losing 3-2 to the streaking Chicago Sting at rain-soaked Cominsky Park before a crowd of 6,543,Though torrential rains made playing conditions adverse, it was a potent Sting offense which subdued the Surf. The Sting, 6-1 on the season built a 2-0 halftime lead but had to hold off the Surf in the second half.The Surf, which has scored two or more goals in six matches, twice made a run at the Sting who had not allowed more than one goal in its previous six matches this seasonGerman international Karl-Heinz Granitza opened the Sting scoring with a pair of first-half goals, the first on a direct kick in the third minute and the second off an assist by Amo Steffenhagen in the 12th minute.Unable to mount an attack in the opening half, the Surf played with more enthusiasm in the second half and twice got within one goal of the Sting.Steve Moyers scored his eighth goal of the year 30 seconds into the half. The goal was a header off a comer kick by Dave Husoc, making it the seventh goal Moyers has scored on headers. He has scored at least once in six matches. sMoyers' shares league scoring lead with Ft.
