Dire tors of the club have exercised an option on 170 acres of fine golf land at a site near the village of Glenview, and plans for a new 18 hole course and club house are being rapidly formulated.Another, phase of the expansion project will be evidenced by the en-. rollment of additional members in the club. The present membership is 190,but plans are being considered to admit 160 more, making a total membership of 350.—=—-——Excellent CourseFor the past eleven years the North Shore Golf club has occupied a nine hole course at Kenilworth. The organization has proved popular and its members have desired a larger course over which to play. The new 170 acre course will admit an 18 hole championship course as well as a nine hole practice course. It is the same site that was formerly under consid-eration by the Edgewater Golf club when that organization was seriously considering moving from its present quarters.Architect Approves SiteTom Bendelow, a Chicago golf ar-:hitect, has inspected the Glenview »ite and has pronounced it for good jtolf purposes, for the land is rollingand the soil ideal. The land is bounded on the north by Lake avenue and on the east by Wagner road and the forest preserve. It is said that the cost of the land is $950 an acre, mak-outlay of $165,000 for theng, ancourse.Will Sell Present CourseFigures on the club house reachedapproximately $150,000 and a roughestimate of the cost of laying out thelinks indicated $75,000. The venturein its entirety involves an expenditure of between $390,000 and $400,000. The club expects to realize enough out of its present property, which will be sold for building purposes, to cover the cost of buying the ground and starting work on the course without levying any assesment on its members.
