:“Allie Arnold, secrtary of the SI-SI. association, and sport writer for the Vincennes Capital, jumps on to the Vincennes Sun all spraddled out because of the manner it handled the Potts affair. The Herald and The Princeton Democrat will also receive a like dose from Arnold as both papers handled the Potts incident in a manner similar to the Sun. Arnoldsays that President Gosnell and him-! self had already started an iuvestlga-| tion and the muddle will be straightened out without any interference of _ the Sun—and he might as well added | other newspapers as well. Well, j here’s hoping that the Vincennes offi-| cers will earn their salary. * * ♦ The war revenue bill spells the end of the Washington Greys and all other clubs of that caliber, if it finally ! is enacted as introduced. It is pro-! posed to levy a tax of $10 on each $100 oi gross receipts. No club that we aie acquainted with can stand such a drain on the treasury and the moguls had as well get their Jieads together and work out a plan whereby .they oftn “get by.” The presidents of the two minor leagues claim that the law will be “ruinous” to organized base ball and it has been suggested that the only way to continue the game is for the players to stand for a reduction in salary. Such aplan might save the day for the clubs• *of the SI-SI. association.—Washington Hgrald. -
