SATURDAY, MAY 10, 1952Early Lead HoldsUp (or MaroonsIn Damp ContestMuskegon (Special) - - Holland Christian's baseball squad piled up a big lead in the early innings Friday against Muskegon Christian and then withstood a laterally to take an 11-10 decision.The contest was played at Muskegon in a drizzling rain.Both clubs were in a hitting mood with the Hollanders collecting 12 safeties* compared with nine for Muskegon. The locals used three pitchers while the losers employed but two.Holland got to Muskegon's Dave Bolema for three runs in the first inning with the aid of three hits and a walk—all of the damage coming after two outs. Muskegon came right back with two in its half of the first, getting three solid bingles off the Maroon’ Tom MaringA walk, a hit and an error produced two more markers for the locals in the second inning. Christian got three each in the fifth and sixth frames with the aid ofsome timely hitting Meanwhile Maring was sailing along in greatfashion, holding Mus-kegon scoreless.Then with the count 11-2 in his favor in the sixth inning, the roof literally fell in on Maring and his teammates. Plagued by a lack of control and hurt by threecostly errors, the Dutch hurler couldn't get a batter out. Mean-W'hile the losers were sandwiching in enough hits to take advantageof Maroon mispiaysErville Hoove came in to relieve Maring, but he didn’t fare much better.
