He won the 220 in :22.2 and the 440 in :50.5. He was joined by Gaylen Geerdes. Jeff Espinosaand Tim Hemming for the mile relay. The winning time in that event was 3:24.9.Mason City High junior Scott Crowell won the discus with a heave of 184-9. That's the best in the state this season and the fifth best in the nation. The previous best in Iowa this spring was an 181-11 effort by Crowell.Other victors for the Tigers were Dave Cobb in the long jump. Kurt Lorenzen in the high jump and Tom Winder in the pole vault.
