B.H.S. Track TeamMade Good ShowingThe B.H.S. track and field men, ten in number who entered the Missouri State track and field events at Columbia, Friday and Saturday made a creditable showing and mast of them qualified.John Dovolt took a 5th place in the mile and Ed Payne, a second place in the discus throw.John Smith and Dick Thompson qualified in the 100 yard dash and in the 440, and the 880 relay team was one of six teams to qualify for the finals.This state wide competition was tough since seasoned track and field men, the best in the state were there in competition.Mel Sheehan, coaching the local boys for his first track season, has shaped some potential stars from the list of recruits which makes the future look bright. He was a little disappointed that the relay team failed because of some hard luck but on the whole was pleased with the showing. He had not expected to pick up any points as records showed competitors a little too strong for new men.On the whole, the track seasonhas been very satisfactory.
