Since turning 40 and becoming eligible for Masters competition, Spinnler has increased her racing schedule. Last weekend, she won the Masters division of the Sallie Mae 10K in Washington, D.C. Before that, Spinnler had run in a charity event and a5K in D.C.“I’ve been racing a lot,” Spinnler said. “I’m not training too much in between. Racing and resting is what I’ve been do-• _ Y)mg.Concerned that she might fatigue if she pushed too hard early, Spinnler refused to look at her watch to check her pace.“I never looked at one split today because it wasn’t important to me at all,” Spinnler said. “I was trying to see if I could win. I wasn’t looking at splits, I was just trying to focus on how I was feeling throughout the race.”Rounding out the top 10 overall were Warrenton’s: Shannon Nally in fourth (42:04), Laeticia Warring in fifth (42:09),Millwood’s Carolyn Wilson in sixth (42:52), Winchester’s Lori Fountain-Bales in seventh (42:52), Winchester’s Rachel Eisenfeld in eighth (42:53), Hamilton’s Mary Page in ninth (43:27), and Clair Smith of Fairfax in 10th (43:38).Class winners were Sara Church (9 and under), Mount Solon’s Mariah Hagadone (10-14), Eisenfeld (15-19), Page (20-24), Nally (25-29), Fountain-Bales (30-34), Warring (35-39), Glenda Purser of War-densville, W.Va. (40-44), Rose Weber of Selinsgrove, Pa. (45-49), Winchester’s Sandra Adams (50-54), McLean’s Vera Dvorak (55-59), and Richmond’s Mary Kate Berglund (60 and up).
