The Emmetsburg fans were particularly interested in the outcome of bouts in which local talent participated.In the best boxing bout of the evening Claude Pettit of this city won a decision over Johnny Cosgrove of Wesley over the six-round route. Pettit won five of the six rounds. His clever defense and his ability to score telling punches made a great hit with the many fans present. The Wesley boy outweighed Pettit.Another interesting match was the four-round affair between Francis Brady of Emmetsburg and Buzz Smith of Humboldt. The boxers fought on fairly even terms although Brady was the aggressor throughout and scored the more telling punches. Most of the spectators were inclined to favor Brady with the decision.
