SPORTSTHE SUN SSokk Thurs., May 4, 1972 ifLocal Spikers In DivisionalYuma and Kofa mav nut have much of a chance at winning the Central Division track title, but both Yuma Coach lack Bedillon and Kofa Coach Fred Feiler hope to plav a major role in the outcome of the divisional meetThe meet gets under wav todav at 6 p.m. with preliminary- heats with the finals set for tomorrow night. The track meet will be held at Mesa' Westwood High School.The top four in each of Friday's events will advance to the interdivisionals the following week at Westwood High School.Both Bedillon and Feiler admit ted that their teams were quite young and inexperienced going into the meet.However, both feel some of their cindermen could pull off a few upsets.Kofa’s top hope is distance runner Chris Wood Wood, who is recovering from a leg injury, will be entered in the mile and will be a member of the mile relay teamYuma's top threat is Richard Bitner Bitner will enter both the 100-vard dash and the440-vard dash.Kofa also will have Tonv •Jaramillo in the long jump with -Joe Pontecorvo slated for the 100-vard dash and the 220-vard dash.Hod Priest and Tom Pallack will be set for the 440-vard run with Tim Miller slated for thediscus.Wood. Dale. Pallack and Priest will form Kofa's mile relay team.Yuma will have Duane Dees in both the 100 and 220 with Bishop .Jackson joining Bitner in the 440-vard dash. Kddie De Los Reves and Kent Bedillion will be the Crime' hope in the •lt;80-vard run with Gilbert De los Reves and Jav Duran slat-for the mile run.In the high hurdles, Yuma will have Lionel Daniels and Mike Sims with Daniels and Larrv Moore reads for the low hurdles.On Yuma’s 440-vard relay team are Daniels. Dees. Jackson and Moore with Jack-fcon. Kddie De Ixs Reyes, Gilbert De Los Reves. and Bitner .'omprising the mile relay ieam.
