East Protests Junior FinalsTORONTO (CP)—Wren Blair, manager of Oshawa Generals, announced Tuesday night he will protest the appearance of Edmonton Oil Kings in the Memorial Cup to the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.Wren also said ' will protest the use by Edmonton of three players, picked up from Este-van Bruins to strengthen the Oil Kings for the cftp final. Both protests, announced at a press conference at Maple Leaf Gardens where the best-of-seven final starts tonight at 8 p.m. are not exp 'cted to get far. The entire series for the Canadian junior hockey championship will be played at the Gardens because the Oshawa rink is being used by other attractions booked several months ago.Bill Hunter, manager of the Oil Kings, termed Blair’s protests “ridiculous.” Lloyd Pollock of Windsor, Ont., CAHA first vice - president who attended the conference, said Edmonton’s actiors don’t appear to contravene CAHA regulations.Blair himself said he does not expect the protests will changeanything. “But Pin gonna file them anyway.”Wren claims Oshawa should be meeting Estevan, the team Edmonton beat in the western final, in the national championship. He said Edmonton does not qualify because the CAHA regulation states that no team can enter a Memorial Cup final unless it played in a junior league during the season. The Oil Kings competed this season in the Alberta Senior Hockey League.Hunter said the CAHA approved Edmonton’s participation in the senior circuit on an appeal of the regulation. “And once more the East approved of it.”Blair said the addition of the Estevan players from the Saskatchewan junior league gives Edmonton all-star calibre players from two provinces. “Even if we win only two games in this series, we should get the cup because we’re playing two provinces at once,” Blair said.Second game of the series is set for Friday with the third Sunday and the fourth next Wednesday.
