Weston said. “I didn't really have to run that hard to win.Weston says he enjoys running, but he enjoys winning even more.That's why he gave up the 880 last year to concentrate on the 330 intermediate hurdles. T started to lose in the 880. that's why I gave it up, he said.It may come as a surprise to learn that Henderson thinks Weston best event is the 880. Weston, who has a 3.4 grade point average, anticipates obtaining a bachelors degree in mathematics or physics before taking off with the An* Force.Weston knows where he's going,and where he has been. As a junior,he did a 38.6 in the 330 low hurdles at the North Coast Section trials in 1977 As a sophomore, he was an undefeated half-miler, taking the Redwood Empire Meet Division III frosh-soph division.He also played football lor three years. In 1977. he was a starting wingback and defensive back on the MCAL co-championship team. As a junior, he was a reserve defensive back and wide receiver on the varsity. Tne year before that he was onthe junior varsity where he played some quarterback. His QB experience paid off last season when he was called on to fill in for sidelined signal callers Dave Cradeur and Clay Muster “I like track because it is an individual thing. Weston said, but he also enjoys football because of the team concept. I'm not as aggressive in it as a I should be. He may sound like he lacks confidence in his football skills, but such isn't really the case. Weston simply has his talents in perspective Regarding his track talent, he is equally candid, but his conclusions are different than his grid assessments.I do better at track than football. I think I have the speed to make the state meet this year. I think I can do that.Therefore, don't be surprised to see Weston at the state meet in Bakersfield next month
