I. park vcsterdav afternoon, the Beckley Black Knights gave the visitors a neat trimming bv the score of t to XIn disposing of the colorful, roaming outfit the Knights chalked up their third straight win in exhibition games this season and showed probably the best form to date.Phil Cozad had the House of David outfit literally eating out of his hand during the five innings he worked on the mound, allowing only four hits and nothing that resembled a run. He was followed on the mount by “Gene” Moore, who did not fare quite so well, hut had enough in reserve to stop budding rallies put on by the invaders in the late innines. Moore was found for four hits, one a home run by Shadow on w ith a runner on base.Berkley's first tally crossed the plate in the second inning when Eli Harris crashed a long triple between right and center fields and scored when Ramsey bounced one across the plate that eluded the backstop.Two More dalliesTwo more tallies crossed the plate in the sixth. Gamble, right lielder. hit a double to left field and advanced to third on an in- j field out, and scored on Ramsey's wild pitch. Connors, new third sacker, hit a home run over the j center field fence, after hitting a Jong foul over the left field bar- ; rier. Beckle s scoring was concluded in the seventh.Diffley lifted a pop fly in front of the plate that was allowed to fall safely to earth for a single. Moore sacrificed him to second I and Gamble drew a pass to first, j Diffley scored what proved to be i the winning run on Martin’s line single to center, the red-head’s. second bingle of the game.
