It’s your country’s fate that the convention .vill be helping to decide.SI 11 KUO V DEAN WILLIAMSWilliamson County Scouts will join together Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10 at the Hunter Miles farm on State Highway 104, west of Circleville for their annual Spring Camporee, J. R. Bur-ress of Taylor, Dist. Camping and Acaivities Chairman announced today. The Scout Camporee is the spring over night gathering held by the District for all Scout Troops in the county. Units camp under their own leadership and compete in the Scouting skills, camping, cooking, and general camp craft.The Camporee is open to the parents of Scouts and Cubs and the general public on Friday at 8 p. m. and on Saturday from 1 p. m. to the close of the Camporee.The program begins at 6 p. m. on Friday and is concluded shortly after noon on Saturday. The Friday evening period is used forsetting up camp and preparing theevening meal. The climax that evening is the Camporee Campfire where each Troop presents a stunt or song. Singing and Scouting arealways outstanding at the Camp-fire. ,\*mSaturday morning after breakfast, prepared individually by eachScout, the Camporee events arc run. Fire by flint and steel signaling, message relay, knot tying, and other Scouting activities fill the morning period. Units score tc win one of three awards, the Blue Ribbon, the Red Ribbon, or the White or participation ribbon.Following lunch Saturday, the entire encampment assembles foi the announcement of awav *s anc the presentation of ribbons. A large count on the awards is scored by the percentage of attend ance each unit has at the Camp oree.Camporee attendance in the pas' has been averaging 150 Scout. plus their leaders.
