Kenny, Pohl to Compete This Week For Golf TitleSMU’s star golfer, sharp-shooting Ray Kenny, will attempt to retain his title as Texas’ outstanding j amateur linksmen when he matches shots with a- veteran field in the Texas State Amateur Golf Tournament to be played over the long Brook Hollow layout today through Saturday,This is the first championship tourunament of the Texas Golf Association since 1942 and promises to be one of the best tourneys in the history of the meet.Another Mustang clubber who will vie for the title is Herb Pohl, dangerous and capable of upsetting the cream of the golf crop.Pohl is currently the Ponies No. 2 golfer and is a threat in the big tournament.Kenny and Pohl will oppose such outstanding strokesipen as long-hitting Earl Stewart, Jr., of Glen Lakes, who has already been es-t tablished as an early favorite* David (Spec) Goldman, a perennial threat from DallasCountry Club; Reynolds Smith, a retm*ned veteran with plenty of power, and southpaw Howard Creel of Houston.—SMU.*—
