Tark, this afternoon when the famous Mouse of David j nine will combat the Recklcy Black Knights at 4:00 P. M.The appearance of the athletes j with hirsute adornment is always one of the high spots of the preseason activities of the Black Knights and Beckley fans will: welcome the news of their belated appearance with delight. The House of David team, an outgrowth of the famous team which once represented the Benton Harbor religious sect, have more than just a few whiskers to recommend to baseball enthusiasms.They have a high class team in all respects and it is one that can be counted on for nine in-; nings of real baseball at all times, j Such noted performers as “Moose” Swaney, Janesko, Starv-aeas, Forman and Woods have been with the team for many years and they can play baseball j! as few independent organizations ■ can be relied upon to show. Last j year the H. of D. nine handed the lt;Black Knights their only pre-sea- ' son defeat of the year and they i also did it in the year preceding. , Although the Black Knights of j 1933 managed to gain an even break in the proceedings last year J trtev still have a few scores to set- j i He with the bearded athletes, j Hoke Beazlev, who played with : the Knights during the latter part j! of 1932 and in the championship h series against the Charleston Senators. is a full fledged member of j the House of David team now as this is his second season in the j regalia of the visiting nine.The H. of D. team will proba- j} bly lineup with Getz at thirdbase, i Woods at first base, Gatina at; j shortstop, Beazley in left iield, -Starvacas at second base, For- j ^ man in right field, Shadowen in \ eenterfield and O’Grady catching. lt;The pitching will be done by one ’ of four members, Swaney, Janes-go, Ramsey or Bennett. Leslie, a catcher, is also carried as a util-1 ity man.
