Phi Gams Down Beta Theta NineSanders Pitching Star-Fast Ball of Hicks Holds journalism to Two Hits.Jack Sanders, ace pitcher for the Phi Gams, held a Beta Theta Pi nine to one run in their game on South Field yesterday, pitching a no hit game. The run was scored by Jack Evans after three walks and an error.Martin Hicks yesterday continued his streak of superlative moundsmanship, downing the Journalism team by a score of 16 to I. Hicks7 pitching for the House of David held the opposing team to two hits.Hicks' up-shoot kept the Journalism nine baffled while his teammates went on a continuous batting spree. The House of David scored in every inning, rolling up four runs in both the second and third frames. All but one of the bearded nine accounted for at least a single hit.Seniors Smother FroshA hard-hitting Senior contingent went on a rampage against a bewildered Frosh team to the tune of 20 to 1. Jacoby, pitching for the upperclassmen, allowed only five hits. Desch scored the lone Cub tally.McDonough starred for the Senior nine by getting five hits out of five trips to the plate and scoring four runs. Sap-erstein, at bat twice for the yearlings, secured two hits but did not score.Beta Theta Pi Loses AgainDuring their second game of the afternoon the Beta Theta Pi's again lost, this time to the Tau Epsilon Phi nine by the score of 16 to 1. Bickerman was heavy hitter for the TEP's, crossing home thrice.In an earlier game the Spectator nine downed the Jester comics by a 7 to 5 score. The game was close throughout and only sterling relief pitching by Arnold Beichman managed to save the game.At the bat Beichman also starred, getting three hits in four trips to the plate. Hpnk Lieberman, who sltarted in the box for the newspapermen, was forced to leave the mound in the second inning after a particularly vicious Jester smash felled him.The box scores:Seniors (20) Frosh (1)ab r h| ab r h~ Morris, c 3 0 1Friedman, p 3 0 0Desch, lb 2 11Norton, 2b 2 0 0Sap'stein, 3b 2 0Kaplan, c 5 2 2Shibley, rf 5 12M'Don'gh, ss 5 4Gram'zio, lb 5 2Margolis, If 5 1Jacoby, p 5 3 41 Bourne, ss 2 0 0Machol, cf 5 3 2Brown, 2b 5 2 3Stapl'ton, 3b 4 2 4Totals 42 20 291Gussman, If 2 0 0Frankel, cf 2 0 1Smith, rf 2 0 0Totals 20 1 5SENIORS ..........................2 7 9 2 0—20FROSH ..............................0 0 0 1 0— 1House of David (16) Journalism (1) ab r h|Close, rf 5 3Thorburen, If 4 3Urie, 2b 4 1Ciampa, ss 3 2Pinckney, lb 5 3Hicks, p 5 0 2Meadows, 3b 5 2 2 |Mack, cf 2 10Acker, cf 111 Simpson, c 4 0Totals 38 16 1 JOURNALISM ....0 HOUSE OF DAVID 1Phi Gams (20) ____ ______ab r hi ab1 Hederman, cab4r0h0Mazet, rf301Wiss'ger, 3b Beichman, 2b300300Russo, cf300Hagerty, lb300Rooss, If311Blufield, ss200Jackson, p100Totals2512J 0 1 00O—14 4 2 212—16Beta ThetaPi(1)Sweeny, 3b 4 3 1Thorburen, If 4 3 3Acker, 7:f 4 2 2Pinckney, lb 4 2 1Urie, ss 4 4 2Sanders, p 4 2 2Mack, 2b 3 2 2D.Simpson, c 3 1 2R.Simps'n, rf 1 1 1Kraft 1 0 0Randal, c 2 0A.Jochum, lb 2 0J.Evans, p 1 1Northcott, ss 1 0Durham, rf 0 0Wiley, 2b 2 0H.Jochum, If 2 0G.Evans, cf 2 0Bo'ebm'n, 3b 1 0Totals 31 20 1S| Totals 13 1 01]?n ........................................I 0 0 0—1PGO .....................................5 O 9 6 20
