By David ArmendarlzShafter’s Generals won two of three relay events last week against Stockdale and used superior depth as they registered a light 87-81 victory over the Mustangs.The locals 200 Medley relay team of Adam Wilcocks, Alex Silicz, Richard Sharp and James Chewningcaptured their race in 1:53.97 whilethe same four Generals out distanced the Mustangs in their winning time of 1:41.41 in the 200 free relay.Results are: 200 freestyle - 2. Cal-letano Gutierrez, 2:14.78. 200 IM -1. Silicz, 2:15.90. 50 free-1. Sharp, 24.50; 2. Chewning, 25.76.100 Butterfly. 2. Sharp, 1:03.91 free-1. Chewning, 58.01; 3. Wilcocks, 59.34. 500 free - 2. Gutierrez, 6:22.00.100 backstroke - 3. Michael Milieu Jr., 1:13.30.100 Breastroke -1. Silicz, 1:10.07; 3. Strieker, 1:15.70.On Saturday, in the Taft Invitation-als, the Generals placed 7th overall and second among SSL schools with 88 team points.Silicz was the only SHS swimmerto place in the top three as he swam to a third place finish in the 100 breast in 1:08.20.By David ArmendarlzShafter’s Lady Generals received wins by Aubrey Edgmon (500 free) and Sara Barnard (50 free) against Stockdale, but the Lady Mustangs defeated the Lady Generals 128-52 in a South Sequoia League (SSL) swim meet.Others placing were Hilary Salter, who placed third in the 200 free in2:39.86. Also grabbing a third place finish was Dayla Clayton in the 100backstroke in 1:25.58.Edgmon had a second place finish in the 200 IM in 2:43.92 while Barnard placed second in the 100 butterfly 1:16.66.On Saturday the Lady Generalscompeted in the Taft Invitational and finished in 11th place with 31 points.
